Well I'm more than happy to settle for the title of "best of the rest" in this race, I was never near the pace of the top three. I felt a bit like my fellow Aussie Daniel Ricciardo during the 2016 season. :p

I had put in a fair amount of practice and felt super comfortable with the setup prior to the race so when I qualified P5 (P4 being stolen by @t0daY right at the end!) I felt I was where I should have been.

After a decent start I was hung out to dry on the outside of turn four and was passed by @Feanor and @The Wayfaerer I stuck just behind this pack of three waiting (hoping) they might get tangled up with each other. This went of for quite a few laps of close battling until my plan did at last happen! Firstly, Manu spun out from the lead of the pack then a couple of laps later Feanor and The WayFaerer made contact. The waters parted and I dived through a gap between three cars to take P4.

For the remainder of the race The Wayfaerer kept me honest putting heavy pressure on me until at last his tyres gave out more than mine. I slowly pulled a gap on him bit by bit as my tyres felt quite managable despite being well off the pace. We both decided to not pit until the other did... and neither of us did so we ended up both doing a no stop. :p

I'm super happy with my result, I opted to go with a much lower downforce/shorter gear ratio setup which gave me an edge in top speed on the straight to others, as well as the lower gears giving me a good punch out of the slower speed corners.

Everytime I checked the delta and saw The WayFaerer's name their I got this song in my head :p:

P.S. I hate those guys that before the race say: "Yeah I've only done a couple practice laps" then they're 1.5secs quicker a lap than you. :p

Again an awesome race guys.

I struggled a bit in Qualy because i somehow couldn't get a good lap until my last try where i managed to qualify in P9. During the formation lap i got up to 7th because of the strange incident of @Ashnoom and @Battenberg

I got a good start into the race and managed to overtake @SillySausage on the inside in Andretti Hairpin. After that, to my own surprise because normally they are faster than me, i was able to keep up with @t0daY @Feanor and @SillySausage . It was awesome to watch the two germans in front of me battle. After some time i was able to pass @Feanor because i think he was doing a mistake. A few laps later @t0daY spun out in front of me getting me into P4 for a short time. Shortly after that @Feanor and I had a small contact between Rainey Courve and the pre-to-last corner which resulted him to go off track for a short moment and me slowing down because i thought i blocked him. @SillySausage was able to capitalize and got through taking over P4. After that i was just following @SillySausage because we had the same pace and i was planning on stopping at the time when he also does his stop. It seemed like he was planning on doing the same which resulted in noone of us was stopping. This strategy worked perfect until somewhere around lap 30, because until then i was able to easily to 17s. Around that mark my tires started to fall of rapidly but with a gap of 30+ seconds to the guy behind me my goal was just to get the car home in P5. The last 10 laps where just trying to do no mistakes and get through safely. In the end i had the pleasure to watch @ProjectPD 's 180 at the finish line which resulted his car getting stuck right there because the AI couldn't handle it.

Also the situation somwhere in the middle of the race when @ProjectPD came out of the pits and was sliding out of the pit exit into the racing line was a bit scary but also funny because he was sliding right between me and @SillySausage and i could imagine him saying "Excuse me Sir, do you have a moment to talk about cold brakes" :D

I will try to upload a highlight video of my recording today or tomorrow.

Here are the highlights from my POV
It was my first recording of on of our races so there is probably a lot of unused potential in the recording/editing. Any advice and/or suggestions are highly appreciated.

Nice first video! One thing I like to do in my videos (which I haven't been able to record for months now that I'm unable to record my triple screens) is to use a cross-fade filter between clips rather than just a cut. I find is makes it a bit less jarring but also shows the passage of time a bit more.

I'm looking forward to PCars 2 and my Oculus Rift when I will be able to record videos once again! :)

Here's an example of my last video from three months ago:

Yeah i was thinking about that but i absolutely wanted to finish the video yesterday before going to bed and so i had to drop that although it wouldn't have taken that much more time.
But i will definitely keep that in mind for future videos

I used to just use Nvidia ShadowPlay and Adobe Premiere Elements for editing.

@Darksi for my video i used OBS for recording, the free version of Lightworks for editing because it is easily to pick up, and the title screen and the track map i made with GIMP and just put it into the video with some effects

Why do you have SillySaugage stream account on your profile.

I have no idea mate lol.. It seems to of fixed itself tho...

The Steam Authentification is still a work in progress add-on. A display mistake can happen from time to time, but it should not be a bigger problem. It is just a temporarily display problem which solves itself by simply refreshing the website once :)

A bit late but what a great race!

I just had time to find a setup that I fell confident with : I chose to run with default aero, very low LSD decel lock and short gearing. The goal was to maximize acceleration and agility. Could not find a good brake setup though, I was locking up a lot and it got worse and worse with tyres wearing out... Didn't have time to find a race strategy so I just went for a tyre change mid race, full tank.

Qualified P10 with a low 1:16, I felt I was where I deserved as it matched the average time I did while preparing. Could have done a high 1:15 but lost time due to traffic.
During the race I took advantage of the few crashes that happened at the start finding myself around P6 for some laps. Had a battle with James, passed him with a audacious but risky move (I hope it was fair as well from your pov @jamesl91). Then I got hunted by Ashnoon who managed to pass me but unfortunately for him he spinned later. Changed tyre mid race. This time I got hunted by @Feanor. Tried to defend my position after the Andretti hairpin but locked up badly and took him of track with me :( Again I am very sorry for this and I'm happy it didn't have much consequence on your race. Got hunted later on by Ashnoon again but this time I defended my P8 till the end.

I was happy with my pace, doing 1:17 with good consistency. My big problem was tyre management due to lack of preparation and stress management. Did a lot of mistakes because of these two.

Thank you guys for this I had great fun :)
