[Improved to 1:39.563 in the meantime .... still 3.209 seconds behind Cluck...:( .... still no perfect lap...]
Still have this feeling that I downshift too much..... 1:39.839 thus far with race setup. @Cluck I kinda like the circuit, better than Fuji that is :D.
This is what I'm doing shifting wise at the moment...already found some improvements and beat my ghost in the first part of the TT.. after which I #$%@#$ up the rest so no time... lol.

Any suggestions for improvement much appreciated!!! :)

CotAshifting.PNG

T1: 2nd
T2: 3rd up to 4th for next turn
T3: just before this turn from 4th to 5th .., letting the car roll down hill, ... blipping the throttle to keep grip and stay inside track lines
T4: some brake before this one but what I do seems to be quicker… let the car roll and blip throttle
T5: back to 3rd just before this one for better grip and more traction
T6: 3rd
T7: 3rd
T8: chicane, flat out 3rd , driving almost in straight line, hard brake for next turn
T9: 2nd but I think 3rd should be possible and faster ?
T10: 2nd
T11: 2nd or 3rd ???
T12: 2nd or 3rd ???
T13: 3rd driving in straight line for braking for the next turn
T14: 2nd
T15: I think I’m already in 4th here…but could be 3rd too
T16: 4th blipping throttle to stay on track
T17: in 4th I’m quicker than in 3rd here… doubt if I should shift down to 3rd after this turn?
T18: 2nd because going too wide when in 3rd … might be my wrong driving line?

Getting to like this track more and more, very challenging with all those different types of corners that require different cornering techniques... great stuff for a rookie :) ... although some seem to hate this track :vomit:.

Quote (source: http://www.planetf1.com/news/circuit-of-the-americas-track-guide/)
"Track architect Hermann Tilke fused Formula 1’s best corners together to create Circuit of The Americas, a challenging 3.41-mile, 20-turn circuit in Austin, Texas and home of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix since its opening in 2012."
"It is a circuit designed not just for visual spectacle but for pure racing itself with a deliberate widening of the corners to allow for more racing lines, and therefore more overtaking opportunities."

So that's why I can't find the perfect driving line..... :banghead:

Thanks to the elevation map I get to understand or 'read' the car's behaviour better. Never looked at these maps before...I live in a flat country...

I need more practice...practice....practice...

The track itself is nice, trying to drag the porsche around it, not so much. At least not on the controller. The number of minute corrections that are required to prevent/hold a slide is too much for me to handle. Bearing in mind most little adjustments are effectively a massively quick full lock turn rather than a gentle counter steer. It would probably be amazing if that rear wing actually created downforce but otherwise that entire first section is actually just one line, wander off it & you will lose massive amounts of time...
The best I can manage is a 1.37.6 on hard tyres. I know I can go quicker on the softs but I can't keep the tyres alive throughout the final sector.
Elevation should be quite familiar if you've raced in the previous rounds with almost all of them having pronounced changes..
Your gear selection for most corners is pretty much spot on. Once again 6th gear in this car is pointless.
As for the track design, it's ok, the copy & paste from some of the tracks around the world should be quite obvious, others a bit more, obscure..

@FuBii get a Fanatec bundle already this weekend. Time for you to have a decent controller to get some podiums :)

Need a bigger desk for it all to fit ahaha
Something I will be designing & building very shortly.
Then I need to upgrade the PC before I do much else.
Also need a few other things before I can blow that much sadly... Like a fully working phone

*Edit:
Phone actually died on me today so had to bite the bullet & get an upgrade...:sorry: & what an upgrade  Cheaper getting a big phone than a small one these days :banghead:
But hey ho, Sony XZ premium, wonder if it'll last as long as the Z3 compact :D
Just realised it was payday... thrown some cash at a new controller... hope it has vibration...
Upgrade to a wheel put on hold till I can sort out my little flat first.

I am not going to race tonight due to my PC failures I have had which I am busy trying to fix. I will be online and hopefully I can join as a spectator.

I have to sit this one out. Sorry (again) guys. A truly abysmal season for me :(

My PC is stuttering like a mofo. I've tried 3 different NVIDIA drivers to no avail.

Best qualifying of the season so far, 4th.
Good race start, @Eugene Flerko ran wide into T1 & I was able to pull alongside & get in front at T3.. Pretty sure @Eugene Flerko cut T4 to stay alongside me as I was running on the kerbs at this point.. then pushed me wide into the chicane. Apologies to @Bluerat for the contact.
Later around the same lap, @Bluerat span out & I had no where to go. Didn't register any damage but half way round the second lap the engine damage started sky rocketing. Managed to make it back to the pits... when the engine blew 5m away from the pit box. fml.
Disappointing season for me this time round. Still, new controller arrives Wednesday, will need to get to grips with how it behaves over the trusty dual-shock 3.

Not a good race. Start P12 but finished p15 or 16...one stupid misstake with aero damage cost you the race because you had to pit additonal.... don't know if 8% areo damage can grow your oil temperature to additonal 15°C.... that IMO not realistic.
However.. not my race, but im happy to see my teammate @The Breeze at P11 after the Q
Great Job!!!
