@Jomba I had pretty consistent tyre temps throughout (temps can be seen on my stream), and the car felt predictable all night. It might be the core temp my data uses, and the surface temp you're looking at? AFAIK its normal for surface temps to rapidly heat and cool under sudden loads.

@Dama_The_Crow the glass file will replace the dirt & scratches texture used for the windshield with a transparent one, making it completely clear. The scratches show up as opaque under light, which was causing the main problem for most people.

Regarding the tires if i remember correct, you have 4 "different" values.

1x core value (Inside the tire)
3x surface values ("outside" the tire)
The 3x surface values are also divided into zones. So left, centre, right of the tire.

Like @Battenberg said the surface of the tires can heat up and down very fast depending on corners, straights, acceleration, braking, etc.
The core temp is more consistent and takes lot longer to heat up and cool-down.

Also why when you do your tire pressures, you need to a 3-5 lap stint to get the tire properly heated. If you set the tire pressures only after 1 lap, they will most likely be wrong.

Tried to overtake P4 but he aggressively squeezed me onto the grass on the start finish start which made me miss my braking point and slam into the back of P3. No idea who that was but sorry to the guy in P3...
Think that was me. Altho i cant remember that i pushed you offtrack. I remember that you were behind me and when i checked the mirror again you were gone. Sorry if it was me.
Also wanna say sorry to @Battenberg, i bumped you a few times. They were very light but still i hit you.

Tbh I have to giggle a bit when I read that you can't see shit in corners because the headlights are too centered. These cars don't have adaptive corner lights so I suspect the visibilty is really bad in RL too. Thats no SOL error, you should get used to it.
Can't comment on the tire thingy. Had my tires app closed and the car drove pretty straight forward, no issues with the tires in any corner.
If the car is too understeery for you, then you need to change the ARB, rear wing and toe to a desired level. Of course this car won't turn in like a F1 but thats the 'curse' of an low aero and lightweight car. You need to learn how to trailbrake properly and get the car into rotation while braking, works wonders (at least on my side).

I didn't say there is anything wrong with the lights or the handling of the car, i just said i don't enjoy reduced visibility and how it drives. It's not a complain, admins asked for feedback and thats what i did.
I have a right to dislike something, do I? ;)

The tyre thing seems to affect only me, so will research this one further.

I really enjoy the parts of the night where I could see where I was going! I'm going to re-install Sol and see if it fixes it!

The race I did was good fun, quali was relativley close and the battle into t1 was epic and although it was staring into a solar flare most of it, the battle for the win with @JetPistol was pretty cool!

I do still have some suggestions however:

1) Tyre pressures, I know this wasn't as bad as thruxton but I would still like to see the minimum tyre presure reduced to allow a little more control on what your temps are doing, I think with certain tracks we might get into over presuring issues and to be honest its simple enough just to have the option to go a little low if needed!

2) ARBs, It would be nice to ristrict the amount of ARB settings because there's so many options with all the increments that actually there can be a lot of variation is what's being run over the feild, if we could set it too +5 and -5 clicks away from default it would allow a much higher chance of somone getting the optimum set up - in turn bringing the feild closer and creating more equal racing :D (just to clarify at the moment somone could be running 56000 Front ARB and somone else could be on 36000 and off pace because 56000 is faster but they never get the chance to find that out due to limited testing for example) Just a thought but I dont think anyone will really complain about more of a chance to get the best possible car underneath them

Not a fan tbh.

You can't lock "ranges" but only whole items. So either ARB is open for changes or its locked.

Why not? if the tyres go to shit like they did at thruxton towards the end of the season its going to suck. At least people have a choice of going lower?

And ah ok I was under the Impression you can just tweak the files and get rid of some of the values in ARB

You can, but then you aren't locking the setup, but modifying the car. Then everyone would have to download a RSR version of the Ginetta. :)

Ah well that would be an easy fix for all cars with the dirty windscreen issue, you can send us the cars with the corect .dds file while your there too ;)

I tried some cars around oschersleben (also both lhd and rhd ginettas) in single player. This time I also paid more attention to core temps.
Core temps were pretty stable with all cars (also ginettas), the difference was with with surface temperatures. With other cars they were pretty stable (changed slowly), only with ginettas they changed rapidly. So it looks like it's a feature of the ginetta.

Now if someone can test this and confirm they get the same results, I'll be satisfied. :D

edit: just saw a youtube video, looks like it's the same for others. Still weird, but ok.

First of all I am very sorry for leaving before the end of the 1st Race. I had to deal with a personal matter.

My thoughts on the event:
Sol: Great addition to AC but not multiplayer race ready in current state.
I think Sol and the shader patch are amazing for what they can get AC to do but for two key reasons I do not like it for multiplayer.
1st - Client side settings - As most of us suffered the windscreen issue, before the dds file fix came out I changed the sliders in the shader patch to remove interior lighting reflections, this gave me a clear view that would have been an advantage over others. This makes me wonder how I can manipulate the visuals to gain other advantages. Not that I would do it but as these are client side settings these can be taken advantage of. If there were default settings we can all agree on for the season this could help.
2nd - FPS Performance - WOW this was bad, up until now I had not had any issues with Sol, averaging over 115 fps. Also note without Sol last season and up to 36 cars on the grid I achieved 115-120fps. Last night for most of the race this was fluctuating between 54 - 85 fps and the frametime was out of control. also note that most of the setting were set to off and where possible in the shader patch the most appropriate performance settings were selected, so unless there is a "magic" optimised setting the performance hit was too much for me to enjoy the racing *See track review.

Car: The car is great for close racing and feels very natural to me regarding handling and feedback. Apart from trying to keep heat in to the tyres I have no issue with it or the set-up options available to us. I didn't check the air temp so assumed it was low due to racing in the evening and this played a big part as when driving this car at 2pm with 24 track temp I had no issues with tyre temps.

Track: The first curb was an issue, I clipped it at 35km/h and it caused me to spin 1080 degrees, this did not represent the impact it should have been. It was fine as a track however I am wondering how optimised it was as I have not experienced the lack of performance of Sol I talked about above before on other tracks. (I had not ran Sol with this amount of cars before on other tracks).

So in conclusion:
Sol will be great if standard settings can be set/agreed on and performance can be improved, Car is fine and should aid close racing.

Hope this helps and look forward to seeing you all on the track again soon :)

@Noztra @t0daY @Ricardo Macieira

Hi all, just posting this to provide you some information. I mentioned the poor performance of Sol but I have done some further testing and have found that it is the car that is creating the performance drop. Same Track (I've tried a few), same settings (With and without Sol), different cars.
With this car on all tracks I am getting between 54-90 fps with between 24-30 cars.
All other cars with everything else the same I am getting 115-120 fps.

I now believe the performance hit I mentioned was the car not Sol. I had read somewhere there has been a "dodgy" install for this car, don't know if there is something in it that can be changed to make it no longer a resource hog.

Just thought I would share this with you.

Unfortunately we can't change it, so I can only recommend to lower the GFX settings in CM, to make it run more smooth if people are having issues.

Inside CM there is a small (I) where you can see aprox how much resources each setting uses. Especially reflections, smoke and rear mirror quality is a HUGE performance hog.

I'll make changes and adapt to the situation, certainly not going to miss out on racing because of a few FPS.

I wonder if anyone else is having this issue? it is this car I am having the issue with but in true PC style that does not mean it's the cars files, could be something in my set-up.

Let me know if anyone else has performance issues with the car with more than 24 cars on track compared to other cars.

I will look in to it tonight to see if it is something obvious but it will help to avoid reinstalling AC.

I can try share my settings when I get home and we can try take a look at the shader/sol settings. :)

I only had a few FPS drops down the main straight at Oschersleeeibenenen, but that was even when I was driving alone.

Like I wrote, I had really poor performance in VR aswell. My system could barely hold 45fps and I were on already quite low GFX settings. At first I thought it would be the poor optimized track, never thought that the car is maybe poorly optimized :p

@Noztra I smell some triangle overload here. Can you remember S3 on the other garage where we had the high res liveries in the beginning, which caused massive framedrops? I think this is something similar, maybe not because of the liveries, maybe because of the car mesh or so... Either way, bad news, because this isn't fixed easily... Turning down GFX won't do the trick here, when the car is the problem.

@cheekymunkey78 I wouldn't reinstall AC for the moment. Don't think the fault is on your side :)

Yeah could be? Could also be the default skins er to high quality, but havent checked.

I think in CM you can actually see how many triangles and LODS the car have.

But ill try write to the guy who made the car and ask if he knows anything.

I have done some testing and I am providing this for information only and with positive intent.

Here are the render stats within AC for different cars.
All taken at Mugello with 23 Ai cars and myself making it 24 in total. I start in 24th position (just like a league race :D)
Top values are on the grid before the race and all cars visible
Bottom values are when the race has started, I don't move and the Ai cars are fully out of sight and FPS is at its highest.
Most of Kunos cars were the same as the Ferrari
I also tried the Super GP and VRC Formula Lithium 2019 and both had very similar results as the Bayron from last year.
Notice the Values for the DIP, TRI and SCENE all significantly higher for the Ginetta - also higher with no other cars visible than the other 2 with a full grid.

Please note I also replaced the skins for the Ginetta but this had no effect. I also remove Post Processing, Reflections, shadows, smoke and turned mirrors off. These had little to no effect.
I also had no other apps running and none of the Custom Shader Patch or Sol running, just stock AC.

Again just for information :)

Jesus, double the amount of triangles (TRI), bye bye CPU, was nice to know you :p
Also more than three times the amount of SCENE (Points in the scene?), this doesn't sound too primising :-(
