It started so well, but ended so badly tonight. I’ve watched some he excellent live feed and I appear to have suffered commentator’s curse in race 1. Where were you at COTA when I had a couple of awesome races lol

Huge apologies to @Erik for the massive turn1 hit in race 2 I had an iTunes update and lost all control.
I was inbetween you two - when you drifted over to the right down the main straight I wasn't sure what you were up to, I thought for some reason you were letting us both past. As we go into the 1st corner Crew Chief says you're alongside so I leave some room and then whooosh you come past me 100mph faster and cannonball @Erik. It was pretty brutal from my seat :D That was the second time I got lucky in that race. Given that I've been wiped out of both #2 races before I feel like my luck all came in the one race!

I didn't have that much damage though, it did compromise me later on and caused a spin later on that gave me much more damage. Probably one of those project cars glitches where if you have a big enough accident it can't compute a proper damage value. I have to say the pack we were in looked like we might have had some fun racing until iTunes took me and @Born2BSlow out of it.

I didn't need iTunes to mess up my race, just watch the twitch stream. Every time @fab. ICEMAN looked at me I got commentator's curse and spun out. I need to get more race stint practice before the next round. That worked for me @COTA where I got a couple of good results. This was back to Road America form, I'm hoping to be a solid top ten finisher, but I seriously need to work on my consistency. I have a habit of getting caught up in other people's incidents as well.

My spins in Race 1 affected my confidence in Race 2 quali, I was half a second slower and ended up 10th. It just got worse from there, by the end of lap1 I was down in 22nd I think after a tap which turned me around in the final sector.

Hi guys.

I want to apologise.

The muppet sat at the end of the home straight blinding everyone with their headlights...yeah, that was me. :banghead:

I was a little bit annoyed for being taken off the track several times previously and all rational thought and logic eluded me. It won't happen again (and I'll take a penalty without any argument)

I completely forgot to save the replay for race 2, would it be possible for someone to grab the file and ping it to me please? C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Project CARS 2\savegame\YOURID\project cars 2\media

I'd like to re-live the chaos.

Cheers...

Considering the disaster that was round 1, I sat out Q2 in quiet confidence knowing my tyre issues weren't an issue that they were in race 1.
Starting dead last I was upto p14 in lap two. had a good battle with @MarkyPea going 3 wide into T1 & continuing that battle for the next 5 corners where we came across several cars pointing the wrong direction. I never even noticed such was my focus on his rear bumper till I had to avoid him on the brakes & somehow managed to avoid the carnage around us into the chicane. Unfortunately I then got knocked about a bit, first by @Corentin_Bergès then later by @Determined Hangman. I then had a real life emergency in that my 4 year old had knocked his TV over trying to change the volume (their tv remote is temperamental) which put me 2 laps down by the time I returned. I was happy enough to have some slow fun bringing the car home.
Hopefully I wasn't too much of a road block for the leaders!
Apologies if I was.

I remember coming around the last corner, driving down the main straight, seeing those lights and thinking "What the... is someone going crazy?!?!? Is someone going to try and ram me?!?!" To be fair though I was extremely nervous, I was waiting for something to destroy my race as I was running way higher than I normally do.

I have a question I would like to clarify for future races.

In Formula 1, in a corner the attacking car must be along side at least half the length of the defending car to have the right to the racing line and apex. Is this the case here too?

So if someone barely even has the front splitter alongside you, are you expected to yield the fastest line and simply give the attacking car the place?

This would seem chaotic and a complete free for all. If you attempt a pass surely it should be calculated and executed with conviction, albeit mistakes can happen (Sorry @Corentin_Bergès, almost wiped you out). If not and you just about put your car in the way forcing the defending driver to go off the racing line or turn in and get wiped out by the attacking car then the attacking car should be at fault, surely?

This is regardless of Crew Chief.

Cheers.

I would refer to our driving standards rule on this one

1.2 Overtaking
  • 1.2.1 - As the chasing car, it is your responsibility to avoid contact with the car in front. The following types of manoeuvres are prohibited:
    • Bump drafting in general
    • Forcing a driver to exceed the track limits
    • Dive bombing into corners
  • 1.2.2 - Although not essential when overtaking, we encourage you to make your opponents aware of your position via TeamSpeak.

1.3 Defending
  • If another car is alongside you going into a corner, you must adjust your line to avoid contact. For the avoidance of doubt, if any part of the car attempting to pass is alongside the rear wheel of the car in front, this will be deemed to be "alongside". The following types of manoeuvres are prohibited:
    • More than one change of direction to defend a position
    • Forcing a driver to exceed the track limits
    • Any other abnormal change of direction

A round to forget...
Both qualys were meh, couldn't even get close my times from practice.
In R1, after the green, i was right in the pack heading for T1. @Sonic and me had a slight door rub (again the two of us ), I spun off and hit the wall on the right side. So back to pits in L1... I checked the replay directly after the first race, as I was pretty pissed after that disastrous start, but it looked like we just were in each others blind spot. Sorry for that @Sonic, I hope it didn't affect your race too much.
R2 ain't no better... I could climb some places up to lap 11, then I went wide on the last turn, spun, and damaged my rear suspension while reversing...again to the pits... I was thinking of dropping pCARS afterwards, as I do not see any progress in my race craft, no matter how much I practice, whereas in rFactor I improved quite a bit over the VEC season... I am lost somehow...mimimi

I run a slow and steady setup. I don't spin or crash, I was able to get 1:33.8 bestest ever lap, high 1:34 for the bulk of the race. The car handles progressively and is quite tame. The key is I have it setup with max rear grip and not much front. Okay it corners like a turd on rollers skates, but the rear stays behind the front.

Maybe try my COTA setup, it's the same as I was running yesterday (with a couple of twiddles here and there). I qualified 23rd, which was so awful (same setup was 8th in Q2 last time), but managed to finish 11th by just not crashing (and luck, lots of luck). Don't give up, an even slightly crappy car setup makes it so frustrating, and I'm not overly smooth so I need a setup that allows me to be hamfisted and not punish me.

Great race, when i wasn't spinning haha ! That was a great way to discover racing leagues, thank you !
Noticed a lot of cars spinning in the last 2 corners before the main straight ... for me this was a ride height issue (set too low) ... I think it is called 'travel' in telemetry view, shows red when you hit the ground. Luckily I raised the ride height just before the race .... after some short testing I understood why my team mate @Nakor had a much higher ride height.... saved my race.
