Stuck indoors in quarantine? Need to vent? Need something to do? Need some support or just a laugh? Then this is the place for you!

I’ll start: I work in a school in the UK, and the government is keeping us open as long as possible, so as you can imagine the atmosphere here is of anxiety and frustration. Quite a few students and staff have been sent home as soon as they cough, but there hasn’t been an outbreak or anything like that yet. Feels like we’re in limbo waiting for either the inevitable serious cases to flare up, or when we’re eventually so short staffed we’ll be forced to close.

I managed to get out to the ski resort and achieve 1 day of skiing before France closed. World's most expensive single day skiing?

Then enjoyed some sunshine before running to Geneva to get across the border. It was like being in a movie!

All home and safe now... Back to work tomorrow to catch this thing :banghead:

Here in Belgium all the schools closed until April and everybody who can work from home must work from home. This situation is really annoying since they are speculating that we are going to stay in this situation even longer, but after April I got my internship for (hopefully) my future job...which will probably get cancelled.

On the bright side I am actually considering to dust of my steering wheel again and do some racing, since there is no racing event to watch.

While all neighbor countries are closing their state borders, Belarus is still open for everyone, and there is no med control in airport and on the borders.
I'll just quote what the dictator of my country talks about the coronavirus situation:

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday (16 Monday) encouraged citizens to work in the countryside and drive tractors as a way to overcome the coronavirus epidemic.
"There shouldn’t be any panic
, You just have to work, especially now, in a village”
“It’s nice watching our television: people are working in tractors, no one is talking about the virus. There, the tractor will heal everyone. The fields heal everyone,”

If you want to protect yourself from the virus, forget about hygiene and medications, just go and drive a tractor in a field :)

Poland is at least closing borders and closing as much public places as possible. I don't have school until 31st of March but I'm pretty sure it will be longer. The tests for corona and hospitals are in horrible state though. The government seems to not really take it as seriously as they should, in effect making every mentioned action less effective.

I'm not really bothered by the quarantine, I always sit at home anyway so not much changes. I have to do some school work since teachers send us stuff to do, I'll probably have video conferences soon too.

Otherwise it's just gaming/watching series or movies/procrastinating.

I'm stuck at home for now. My employer said everyone who isn't in the warehouse should work from home. That's what I'm doing now in the second week. And I fear that there will be several more to come.
My wife has to work in her (doctor's) office as she's 'system relevant'. Which means she could 'bring' me the virus any day. Which kinda sucks, since I'll probably end up in a hospital due to Asthma and COPD. :banghead:

Aaaalso, I've bought a guitar (Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid) a month ago, which finally should've been delivered tomorrow. Thanks to Covid-19, it's delayed to 04.04. at the ealiest.

LOL, initially it was a shit show for me but now its a full blown disaster... I'm out of work till September.
Currently putting myself through as many online courses as I can, already obtained Dante levels 1,2 & 3.
I've got a load of courses that may be of benefit to you @Battenberg as we're in a similar industry if you want me to send you some links.

Yeah I saw etc are doing something like that too. I always get completely lost on their consoles, once they close work I would be all over that.

Well, I'm working in a hospital and take care of the IT in the house. My colleague is in his home office. In case I get this damn virus, he needs to take over. Luckily my town and my hospital don't have high numbers of infections, so we still have a little bit of time to prepare. But we'll close our building for every visitor from now on.
The only sad thing is, that I'm really wasted atm and don't have time to race, because i'm just sleeping in my free hours or watch some television.
So yeah, writing here helps a bit. But please do me a favour. Take this shit serious.

If you have free time, then help people who needs this help. Your family, your neighbours or even just people who just needs someone to shop some stuff.

The financial implications at this point, for me personally, outweigh the health.
I'm already diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, at risk & under MINIMUM, 12 weeks self isolation....
At the rate things are going, I'll be selling myself on the local corner within the month

I'll try not to drag things down, as I'm really suffering mentally from this.

I was in Austria skiing last week in February. Lucky we went then, usually go skiing in March. I really can't get my head around it all at the minute. Hoping that the race tonight can help get my spirits up.

Things in the UK seem to going as normal. Just went for a walk as I work from home, and it seems there are plenty of people about. I fear the mentality in the UK wont be strong enough to fight this. Happy to be proved wrong.

The virus is like yet another kick in the balls for us here. Just as spring has arrived, with mother's arm now almost a long-distant memory (ho ho :D ) and the hip fully healed up, we were looking forward to seeing some old friends here and going for walks with a few neighbours.

Now this.

My parents are both over 70 and are on the verge of being ordered to self-isolate for a while. As mother's carer, I have to take precautions too. The village where we live is made up of predominantly elderly people but some are already rallying round, offering to share online shopping slots, letting the younger people go out to do the shopping, that sort of thing. There is some semblance of community spirit, which is reassuring given the empty shelves of all the stuff we need.

All the social stuff my father did has been called off indefinitely, so his "downtime" has now been wiped out.
The few outside things we managed to do with mother have been called off indefinitely.

I'm lucky though, if mother hadn't got Alzheimer's then I'd have still been at home now unable to work - my job used to be almost entirely based on visiting customers homes and offices - and being a very small business I'd almost certainly now be out of business as a result. So there's 2 things to be grateful to my mum for ;) .

There are hundreds of thousands of carers across the country that now face weeks of being stuck in isolation with somebody that they need a break from, but unable to get that break. With the number of people losing their jobs on top of that, I can only hope that the country as a whole does what our village is trying to do and rally round to support each other, not fight each other over a goddamn roll of toilet paper.

My heart goes out to everybody that is genuinely impoverished or has their mental wellbeing severely tested by this pandemic.

On the positive side, the ingenuity of humour that this pandemic has provided has had me in stitches. The videos and pictures flying round the internet are exactly the kind of medicine a lot of us need :pompous:

I work in the IT departament at a nuclear power plant in Bulgaria. The authorities have taken extreme measures - we are not allowed to go outside except for work (those of us lucky/unlucky enough not to be on forced vacation), for some groceries/medicine or to the bank/ATM. And between 22:00 and 06:00 going out is permitted only to go to work for night shifts at the plant.

We've been in home office for the third week now... I am starting to go a bit stir crazy. But it could be worse. I dunno. I wonder where this will lead is overall. At least my neighbors are nice.

We will 100 % get a curfew, tho, as it seems like there are more people on the streets than before.

Definitely. Mother Merkel has already announced a press conference for tonight. And I sort of HOPE it'll be a curfew with some stubborn idiots still sitting in the ice cream parlor just beneath my balcony. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Was there anything in yesterday's announcement from the chancellor that would help?

I live in the Netherlands, currently where not in a total lock but life isn't remotely what it was. Schools are closed so out two kids are at home and we have taken over lessons. My wife still is able to work but we don't know for how long. Her dentist practice is only doing emergency treatment. Non essential stores are closing down rapidly and food stores are regularly raided. Seems that being in a crises causes a massive graving for toilet paper

What I find very sad is what some have to go through. People are dying in hospitals without there lived ones there. Burials take place without the posility to say farewell. People are losing there job, homes and live in absolute uncertainty. My heart goes out to them.

For me personally it's intense atm. Mental health care is also coming to stop atm so there is a potential risk that my therapy will be suspended or have to take place via video or telephone on a reduced schedule. Already sessions where skipped and I feel the effect. That combined with the impossibility to get enough rest at home to recharge is getting scary because I know what will happen when I'm getting mentally tired.

Hope the best for all our members in the period to come.
