That was an awesome race, it turned out the be better than what i expected.
I've struggled getting used to non 2020 version of this track but i managed to get those corners with less banking.
My setup was just perfect for this race, some last minute change paid good.

Sans titre.png

I didn't watch my laptime during qualy, was on wet even if the game told me to use dry tires. I was just whatever i need 1 flying lap.
Started in 13th position, right behind my teamate, what couldgo wrong? T1, a porsche forgot to brake earlier for T1 and get my teamate out of the race.
Its not time to get emotional, there are a lot of cars in my way. Another one get thrown out of the track in the "straights" i avoid him. This was very close.

Ok now lets get to pace now the danger is away, big fight with Colin Hines, he brakes so hard i cant keep it and our car have a kiss. This send him to the sand without damage, i wait for him and we re back to fight, he get a bit dangerous on the defense and spin his car on my front. Lets wait again, I feel so sorry for him, I was so sure you saw me and i couldnt go more on the left or i was going to drive in the grass. Anyway, I finally pass him cleanly and get to my pace.

Passing cars after cars, i see that people seems to struggle with their tires. Quick check everything is ok i could last longer but the fuel left is getting low.
Pit entry at p8, getting out p11 or something like that. Lets pass again those slowers cars. Lost lots of time trying to pass a car that didnt pit and was making me loose 2 to 3 sec a lap untill he did a mistake. Back to racing, after a while i check the position, P7! nice i was already happy with that performance.
Then i see P6 lost it in the last 5min, i just have to bring it back securely to the end of the race. As said by opening this post,That was an awesome race.
Thanks to everyone who raced and my apologyze again to Colin for the taps

Not a great race for me. My first set back was the first corner incident, so I fell to near the back instantly. The first few laps were good fun trying to make some moves, but I soon realised that my starting pressures were far too high (blindly loading the wet preset maybe wasn't a good idea). I was struggling to keep the temps under control, and was not confident in their longevity, so I pitted as soon as the pit window opened to get a new set with corrected tyres. So now the pressures were good, but I now had to try to nurse them to last the next 80 mins.

At every opportunity I went off line to get the left side tyres to cool down, preparing them before the big right handers at turns 8, 9 and 10; as well as the final 2 corners. It was working well initially, I managed to undercut most people I was racing against earlier, but I began to struggle massively with around 40 mins to go. I decided to gamble on slicks, as the racing line didn't look much different than the qualifying conditions (where I also used slicks without problem). I got the pressures wrong again (my earlier pit strat was long when loading the wet setup preset), so had to work with tyres around 25/6 psi - but I was instantly on my best lap pace, and far more consistent in my laptimes - providing I stayed on the island. So I think it was just about the right time to cross over on pure pace.

Then on the second lap of my slick tyre stint, I broke rule number 1 and punted my teammate @kobusnell. I'm so sorry again, I misjudged my tyre advantage, and ran straight into the back of him on the exit of the chicane. So I waited like a good boy, and removed any chance of a Jenson Button type undercut on the top 10. After that, my consistency was all over the place. I had some some fun trying to get around cars on wets, whilst trying to stay on the drier parts of the track on my slicks - turns out it's pretty hard! As soon as you get into position to overtake, you get off line and lose most of your grip. Still it was a lot of fun fighting @kobusnell , @RdMracer and @T.rev.1. Braking for T1 and the chicane was also a challenge at times, if you braked 10m too late your were 50m off track at the corner. :dead:

So all in all a disappointing result, but I gained a lot more valuable experience of driving in these tricky to guess conditions.

On the first lap, I had an accident with an uncontrollable lime Aston sinning back to the track after turn 4 (maybe, I don't know what is and what isn't a turn on this track). Got areo damage hitting the car, then the wall, but no suspension damage.

The car balance felt decent, so I gambled on not taking the 25 sec repairs. Probably a mistake.
Also gambled on pitting in for slicks at around 13 minutes into the race, which would have worked better if I didn't undershot the pressures. I'd say this was worth the risk, as I had decent cornering speed for most of the race, until I started to loose even more pressure in the tires. My straight line speed was dismal, because of the damage I assume.
I felt like I had to do something different to gain, and not everything worked, but I have no regrets about it.

Also, sorry @David Siska about spinning you around after you lapped me, I misjudged the speed difference in the turn big time. :banghead:

I noticed gt4 rain tyres don't work like F1 ones when they wear up, last 4 laps were like going on flooded track with slicks

One to forget for me. I shouldn't have been racing really. Wrong tires, wets didn't work. Involved in too many incidents, think I got hit 6 times in the first 20 minutes. I spun twice by myself, second time hitting the barrier hard with heavy damage. So, I packed it in. Not like me, it was a bit of a rage quit, sorry. Hopefully I am able to make the last 2 rounds.
