Hey guys,
TL;DR at the bottom. Currently I am looking to upgrade my monitor because I find the current one too small and I want to prepare myself for future GPU upgrades. Right now I am using a 1080p 24" TN 75hz Freesync panel and I wanted to upgrade to a 1440p 27" 144hz Freesync display. My GPU is a AMD R9 390 8 GB which is comparable to the GTX 970, RX 570 and GTX 1060 3GB. It doesn't have the power to run games on 1440p and 144 fps even on medium but it runs 80-100 fps on most game on medium at 1440p of high without AA on 1440p (checked this by enabling virtual super resolution, bump up the resolution to 1440p and try some games. This method has very little overhead so should be a reliable test). When gaming with high framerates the CPU can be a bottleneck, but I have a Intel 6600k (4 cores, 4 threads) overclocked @4.3Ghz so it should not be that much of a bottleneck. Right now I won't hit 144fps but it's for futureproofing.
Currently I narrowed my search down to 4 monitors which are in my price category but I cannot seem to make a decision. Can you guys help me out to point out what the flaws might and how impactful these are based on my usage. I game on my screen for 80% of the time, work with documents 10% of the time and Adobe stuff the other 10%. I do not really watch movies or long video's on my screen as I do that in the living room.
