Samsung 970 EVO 1TB NVMe SSD - £179

Amazon Link

This is crazy cheap for an NVMe SSD drive at that capacity. Typically, these are nearly double the price of traditional SATA units, with the 960 EVO (a SATA unit) selling for approx. £130 yesterday (which in itself was pretty good).

Sadly the NVMe don't really make a difference compared to AHSI for us 'normal' users. The extra price is not worth it.

No, but if you have a PCI-E M2.2280 slot and your motherboard supports nvme then it's a much quicker drive than SATA and if you were looking to get a 1TB SSD then this is worth looking at - as I mentioned, the standard SATA drive was £130 yesterday, so this is only £50 more. They are also offering a 500GB version for less than £90 - standard 500GB SATA drives from Samsung are only £20 less than that. But yeah, if your motherboard won't support it then it's not worth it :)

Can confirm, M.2 nvme System drive, everything super snappy. Sure after going from HDD to a normal SSD it’s not that big of a jump anymore but if you have the choice why not. And it safes space in the case too. (The Verges only reason to get one xD)

Interesting :pompous:

I'm planning on a new PC atm and reading through a lot of forums and also getting help there with the new built. They all say that it hardly makes any difference in desktop and gaming mode. But if you two say there's definitely something noticeable I might think about getting them too.

If you want it as a boot drive, just grab a 500GB unit (or even 250GB). Given that you're only then spending £20 on top of the normal drive's price, that's a small amount extra especially when viewed against the total system build cost. At least you'll know you don't have your drive as a bottleneck anymore, at least for booting and primary applications :)

True. What about temperatures? I read that some are easily climbing over 60 degrees Celcius.

And BTW: if somebody sees a 2080 for 555 Euros, please let me know :D

They have their own thermal management. Let's face it, you're not going to be writing or reading large swathes of data on a regular basis, which is when they can heat up badly. If you can, get a motherboard with a heatspreader on the M2 PCI-E slot. Make sure a cooling fan is blowing air in that direction and you've added an extra level of precaution. But really, most of those problems were either in the first iterations or when copying large amounts of data to/from the drive.

EDIT : All of which is going off-topic so yeah, let's get back to posting great deals when you find them :)

Found on german sites
If you're looking for a very good keyboard and dont need any of those silly RGB lightshows : The Corsair K70 Lux is on sale for 83€ (was 137 before). I have the same one (although with Cherry MX Red) and the keyboard is really well made. The price is a banger imo.

Also: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB M.2 NVMe for a 100 bucks!

(The 1TB Version was 200€ just an hour ago, now it is back to 260... Dammit :( )
