Hence the vocal disappointment of their existing customer base :)

Thankfully acc is pretty damned awesome (not in vr alas) and I love the skippy in iracing - I was just looking forward to a more improved pcars. Oh F3 in ams2 also makes me smile even if it is all a bit too bouncy there.
Trouble is, there isn't THAT big a customer base playing and in reality the pCARS forum is mostly dead, there's barely any real activity on there, it's a sad shadow of the lively, active, place it once was. I reported a post on there this morning and nobody had even looked at it until tonight (the mod who did contacted me and said he couldn't believe he was the first to look at it). Plus, there are some proper twats on there that use every possible opportunity to have a go at SMS.

But you're right, it probably won't appeal to the people that are still playing it. I just don't think SMS will be too worried about that, that's all :)

Doesn't appeal to me, but money talks, and they will undoubtedly achieve much better sales with PC3 than previous installments with the format they're going for. Going the way of the Dirt series. There is plenty of platforms and content for serious sim racers

I think the only big groups left are us, ACC, AOD & PRD. Don't really see any other leagues going up. Public lobbies are pretty much all gt3 class & the dedicated servers are devoid of activity

What I found amusing is that pcars3 isn't mentioned on SMS's website, at time of writing*

There is at least a website https://www.projectcarsgame.com/three/

...I didn't "enjoy" pCARS2 as much as I wanted to, especially not when it came to racing. Why? Because unlike pCARS1, fine tuning actually made a decent, tangible, difference to the way the cars performed. Sure, that's great from a realism standpoint, but I hate tuning. I hate testing....

This is where I am these days. If the racing is set up with need for speed type of racing, maybe there can be a more relaxed type of game as well.

New tyre model for convincing & fun handling
Will wait to see some hands-on videos.

Oh and PC2 discount available.

Just back from watching Pcars 3 content, i think we've got plenty of time to spend on Pcars 2.

Or some time to wait for more info. Remains to be seen if it's true, but it does initially look like all the frothing is aimed at the single-player aspect that was shown yesterday. But honestly, I don't know any more than what is in the public domain already over the last 24 hours, but I do know that I'm a patient man.

I was so excited when I saw the notification... then I saw the trailer... I gotta say Im worried... upgrading cars etc... street tracks with fluorescent lights everywhere...

Summer 2020.... maybe a typo cose thats within months.... anyhow I will hope its not another Forza or GT clone.
I actually like the trailer, or did they upgrade or swap it for another trailer?

Looking at the official web site, they improved stuff and expanded with some extra options.

- OVER 140 GLOBAL TRACKS
Interlagos, Shanghai and official Suzuka instead of Sakiro? ... new road track in trailer?

MAKE EACH CAR YOUR OWN
- guess this refers to modding? Requested by many, escpecially AC fans

NEW JOURNEY, NEW GAME MODES
- I don't care about career modes and single player races

BUY AND OWN HUNDREDS OF CARS
- I'll buy the DLC ... not interested in earning it in career mode

CUSTOMIZE YOUR CARS’ LIVERIES
- nice! Requested by many

PERSONALIZE YOUR DRIVERS
- nice too! Finally my own helmet design and no red overalls :)

UPGRADE CARS WITH REALISTIC PERFORMANCE PARTS
- not interested, unless it is optical

FULLY SCALABLE ASSISTS FOR ALL SKILL LEVELS
- great as long as you can turn off all stuff for more realistic driving experience

NEW TYRE MODEL FOR CONVINCING & FUN HANDLING
- nice, hope this improves physics and FFB a lot

24-HOUR CYCLE, DYNAMIC ALL-SEASONS, ALL-WEATHER RACING
- yeah, we know...

UNRIVALLED CONTROLLER EXPERIENCE
- @FuBii :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

VISCERAL SENSE OF SPEED
- nice, I expect a much improved VR experience

INTENSE CRASH EFFECTS AND AUTHENTIC CAR-CONTACT
- hope no longer the sticky-car effect so we can have more close door to door racing

ENHANCED AI
- Only use AI for practising overtake manoeuvres

12K AND BEST-IN-CLASS VR SUPPORT (ON PC)
- nice!

NEW AND DEEPLY ENGAGING CAREER MODE
- not interested

BATTLE YOUR WAY UP FROM WEEKEND WARRIOR TO RACING LEGEND
- not interested

NEW & COMPELLING MULTIPLAYER AND COMMUNITY MODES
- don't know what to expect from this

FUN & EXCITING DAILY CHALLENGES
- not interested

I see why they didn't go down the wmd road this time, i would be very pissed to see my money funding a game with that gameplay

UNRIVALLED CONTROLLER EXPERIENCE
- @FuBii :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

Expect me to me 3s slower than everyone else as I get to grips with it & find controller settings I can work with lol
But yeah leaving the sim cade drifting stuff & career mode out of it, looks pretty good. Still reserve judgement till I can play it though!

From the trailer I think we can agree that this will be a step in the direction of a more mainstream public and less focused on the C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Racing Simulator.

Absolutely, without any doubt, not my coup of tea and this is an easy pass, which is a shame because the Project Cars series was what bought me into the world of sim racing (if we discount all the racing games i played in the 90s as a child).

At the end of the day, SMS has been bought by Codemasters which is for racing games what Electronic Arts or Ubisoft are for AAA mainstream games: the evil corp.
They might launch a few decent games, but greed, milking cash and mediocracy mentality usually prevails.

This applies to any AAA software house and any game genre with very few exceptions like cdpr that was a relatively small studio before releasing the best game ever

Nice to see everyone complaining without any track experience in PCARS3

So I agree with @FuBii - "Still reserve judgement till I can play it though! "

For me PCARS3 should be PCARS2 plus:
- better physics
- better FFB
- better FFB settings out of the box
- improved car sounds
- no more sticky-car effect
- use your own livery in online races, and visible to everyone
- create/customize own helmet and overall
- et cetera

Let's hope for the best

On the liveries item, one of the videos out there states that SMS told them that custom liveries weren't going to be in at launch. There's going to be an in-game editor so I'm assuming it will work within a limited set of parameters. The upshot being that your livery will be visible to others but only because all those elements are there, the game just has to process the specific parameters you have chosen to send to others in the multiplayer session.

Custom liveries are dangerous, imagine someone putting porn pictures or religious/political symbols on their car

Motion blur looks quite strong but without the arcade 'perfect apex' it looks pretty sensible so far
