Connecting to TeamSpeak 3

TeamSpeak 3 is the voice communication software used by RevolutionSimRacing. It allows us to communicate not only during races but also as a racing community. This simple guide will walk you through the process of connecting to the RSR TeamSpeak 3 server as well as basic setup, so that you are ready for racing.

1. Download the TeamSpeak 3 client here and install it. Launch the Client, once installation has completed.

2. When you launch the Team Speak Client for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your nickname. Please use the same name you have signed up with on the RSR Website.

Once you have entered your name click on the OK button.

3. Next select the Connections Menu and then click on Connect.

Communication Methods
You now need to setup how you are going to operate your microphone within TeamSpeak. There are 3 methods for this, Push-To-Talk (PTT), Voice Activation and Continuous Transmission.

Please do NOT use the Continuous Transmission method, as this is extremely distracting for your fellow racers.

Push-To Talk (PTT)
Push to talk allows you to choose when your messages are transmitted to the people you are speaking with in TeamSpeak. Your voice will not be heard until you press your assigned hotkey.

1. To setup Push-To-Talk, select the Push-To-Talk radio button and then assign a hotkey that you will use to talk. Click on the No Hotkey Assigned button and, when prompted, press the key you wish to set as your Hotkey.

You are now nearly ready to use TeamSpeak, you just need to test your Push-To-Talk hotkey is working correctly.

2. Click on the Begin Test button.

Now, on pressing your assigned Push-To-Talk hotkey, you should hear your own voice played back to you. Once you have finished testing your Push-To-Talk hotkey, click the Stop Test button.

You are now ready to use TeamSpeak using Push-To-Talk.

Voice Activation
Voice Activation allows you to talk on demand, activating only when you are talking.

1. To setup Voice Activation select the Voice Activation radio button.

You are now nearly to use TeamSpeak, you just need to test your Voice Activation is working correctly.

2. Click on the Begin Test button

Now, when you start speaking (Voice Activation), you should hear your own voice played back to you. You should set the Voice Activation detection pointer (Gain Control) to activate only when you speak.

During the test, please check your gear shifts or steering wheel movements are not activating your TeamSpeak transmission. If they do, adjust your activation detection point accordingly. Once you have set the activation point correctly, click the Stop Test button.

You are now ready to use TeamSpeak.

Important
If you are having any problems with setting up, or connecting to, the RevolutionSimRacing TeamSpeak you can find further information on the TeamSpeak Knowledgebase.

Alternatively speak to one of the RSR Moderators or Admins.

Recommended Addons
Here are some addons we recommend for usage in Teamspeak - they are synced with your account, probably with the exception of file imported ones

Ducker
This plugin lowers the volume of all clients (that are not whispering you) during the time you get whispered to. Especially useful for induction staff :) but also for teammates during racing.

1. In Teamspeak > Go to "Tools" > "Options" > "Addons"

2. Go to "Browse Online" > Search for (category "all") "Ducker" > take the one by thorwe

3. Click on install
It should work now without problems, if you still wanna adjust the settings go to "Plugins" > "Ducker" > there you have 2 options and then a slider to adjust how much it reduces the volume

I have a single screen, is there an option to get teamspeak on the same screen so I can see who is talking and how do I configure it?

There is an app within Teamspeak called Overwolf, that will display in the top left of your screen who is speaking.

Grab me on TS at somepoint and I can go through it with you.

Is Overwolf working with Project Cars 2?

It is not on supported games list so I figure it does not...but still would like to make sure this is correct.
