We would like to thank everyone who has participated for season 4 of Revolution Cup. It was a great season, our best yet, with many highs and lows, but let's let our video of the month tell the full story.
rFactor 2 - VLMS Finale at Le Mans
After a disappointing DNF at Sebring, RSR's VLMS team were determined to get a good result in the season finale at Le Mans. Instead of the usual 4 hours, the season ender was extended to 6 hours, a welcome challenge for Battenberg and The Wayfaerer at one of their favorite circuits. Pre-race testing saw both drivers setting closely comparable times in the midfield, with the competition's wide spread of talent evident in fast lap tracker.
The Wayfaerer qualified in P11 in class and made it up to P7 in his first double stint. The thick traffic and close inner class battles took their toll on our rivals, while The Wayfaerer was unfazed and kept pumping away the laps trouble free. Battenberg took the car over for a triple stint, setting the car's fastest lap early on with fresh tyres. From the first driver change onwards we were running along out of sequence to our rivals, so consistency & caution was key to keep us in a good position. A series of lengthy Code 80s were called mid-race, which stretched the stint to close to 3 hours. With more issues for our rivals up ahead, we eventually found ourselves in an amazing 4th position. With 1.5 hours to go, @The Wayfaerer took over and immediately had to manage a shrinking gap to a hard-charging Ferrari closing in on us. Thankfully the chasing Ferrari had to manage their crew's minimum driving time, requiring their alien to make way for their human driver in the last hour. This allowed @The Wayfaerer to cruise home unpressured to secure us 4th - equalling our season-best result at Suzuka!
The result should move us up to 9th in the teams' championship ahead of a race winning team - not bad for our first season and the unloved Viper! Darksi Battenberg and The Wayfaerer would like to thank the RSR community for their continued support over the season, as well as the SimRacing.Club team and our competitors for making this such an enjoyable season to be a part of. Stay tuned for our plans for next season!
