I still think splits are beneficial because it s more motivating to fight for victory in your split than it is to fight for p13. Just imagine how much dedication you need to stay motivated if you re in p21 every race as a beginner. It s not that you re bad, just not ready to fight up front and you need an objective to fight for that is at your level. Multiclass would be even better because as you don't feel you are artificially in another split but in a category of your own. A rough example would TC and Cli Cli's or GT3 and TC.
With the participation rate of season 7, and seeing how many reserves did not even show up for one single race I can tell you it will be one split again for S8

A multiclass Split 1 / 2 in a single race rather than a "I like this car" multiclass would be an interesting way of doing this for sure. Technically it doesn't require separate cars of course. Real races have different categories all the time.

Like @UnstopaPaul said, what I meant was 2 splits in a single race but multiclass. That way it is not sensitive to drivers attendance. Reserves could join either splits based on their performance to balance things out. I don't know it s just a thought

  • Positive
    • I think the Clio was a great choice. It was great to break the tension of season 5 last year, and it provided some great racing! At first I didn't think I'd get used to the thing, but I got a bunch of top 10 finishes, which is always my lofty aim. Slipstream helps someone like me to keep up with much faster cars. Overall I enjoyed this season.
    • Something I also liked about the car was that I could basically use the same setup from Sonoma onwards. Honestly, every change just seemed to make me slower. Other than tyre pressures, I still don't know what to change on this car. Basically did the whole season with a 38/65 diff with 40Nm preload.
    • Agreed that the races schedule was generally predictable. This helps so much.
    • I liked all tracks except for Zolder. I've never driven the whole Sonoma track, so when I did some practice for that race I wandered onto other sections of the track. We should use the full course once. Very cool with that dipping turn.
    • I liked how track limits were handled after Zolder.
    • Thank you admins and staff for entertaining us. I think a donation is in order.
    • We had consistent stewarding, thank you stewards for your time.
  • Negative
    • I would like to suggest some form of induction event for the next season, which is compulsory. Induction not only served to gauge the drivers and introduce them to the general etiquette, having a friendly voice (in our case @Battenberg) established the sense of community which is not best observed in the tense environment of a season. Introducing the general expected etiquette is, of course, important as well. I had to take more evasive action in this season. I'm sure if you reach out to people to organize this, this could be done.
    • I know the crowds are mostly different, but with the slight overlap of very little gap between PC2 league and AC league, I don't see that changing soon. It's very hard for me to switch between cars and simulators.
    • No Stickos Motorsport reports and videos. :(
  • Neutral
    • Steward case feedback was only on the day of the race. Having it a bit earlier would not blunt the license point system by delaying penalties. (Although I know the stewards have lives of their own and it's mostly a thankless job, so this is not a biggy. Again, thanks stewards for your time.)
    • If you do not go to the stewards we can not do anything about it. Can only repeat myself, report this behaviour!
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't interpret the current stewarding rules to allow for anyone to go through the footage and report consistent cutting. See https://revolutionsimracing.com/threads/how-to-report-an-incident.252/
Anyone can raise an issue in the Stewards Panel, but only the people who are directly involved with the incident.
When am I DIRECTLY involved when others are cutting? If possible, I would like some clarity. Also, with there being no induction, relaxing this might help the stewards and others in identifying bad driving.
    • The track limit situation at Zolder wasn't great.
    • The wet tyre situation wasn't great. Sure, I cheated into a nice position at Silverstone, but I was much more proud of the wet race at Zhuhai last season.
    • Although having two races at least allows for a second chance should your first race go south, I'd prefer one longer race for the next season. Just like we alternate cars, it would be cool to have something different to the current two race formula again.
    • The grid looks so different from a year ago. I guess that is inevitable?

  • Which car would you like to drive for Season 8?
    • I know there was a GTE league already, but I would love to be part of one.
    • Merc CLK GT1...
    • The multiclass idea sounds really cool.
    • Whatever is chosen, should you guys require any help with testing, I'm sure a lot of drivers will be willing to help. This way BoP, wet tyre and possible strategy decisions can be examined before the season starts.
  • How did you like the Team Championship?
    • Father Lawrence will be happy, hopefully he continues his funding, as Stroll's Eyebrows came in third! @Born2BSlow @Erik well done guys.
    • One team having more than double of the next team does feel a bit, uhm, disheartening.
    • Next season teams of 4, with 2 pro's and 2 am's. Admins to decide who fits in where of course. Would love some pro input if we get setup sensitive cars, and just basic driving tips.
  • How did you like the schedule?
    • It works really well. We got the weather mostly the weekend before the race, which is ideal as practice during the week is generally really hard. Having the odd off week is good.
  • Do you have any other general feedback?
    • I present to you my most successful move of the season!:
      Hockenheim, first race. :)
    • How do I know I just got damn lucky to end up where I did? Observe Bathurst race 1 finishing order, and tell me who is the odd one out:
      1565465731507.png

I'm sure if @steveg200 could take part in all races he would have given those Aces something to worry about. I recall one "newbie night" last year, when we just joined, asking steve how he is that quick just like that. He claimed he was midfield....... Bah. :blackalien:
    • Thank you to all who fought on track. I had some interesting races with @t0daY, and even once qualified in front of @Puffpirat. Firsts for me. I mostly just tagged along where I could, thank you slipstream.
    • Congratulations @Puffpirat! @CatchAGlimpse, @UnstopaPaul, great podium and, would you believe it, not dominated by ze germans. Cool seeing it's possible for others to join the top ranks. Inspirational.
    • Generally I think this season was a success! Thanks for having me.

I have been told directly by admins that you can always consider yourself affected when someone is consistently cutting. I do agree it would be worth a clarification in the rules.

Actually that's another great point on scheduling. Getting Weather sometime on friday would be great as I presume most people get their main practice done on the weekend. Mostly its been there which is great.

I've done races of the season up to the 4th one (Barcelona) before retiring of the rest.
  • Positive
    • The car choice was great to race against other guys, in close fights because not dirty air sensitive, and because it could sustain a reasnoable amount of door banging (it's a TC car after all).
    • Season organisation was OP
    • Great to see new challengers, and a look at the positions shows that there were many contestants for podium.
    • Track choice : I liked Zolder (i always do :p) and Sonoma was a reveal for me, suited the Clio perfectly.
    • Track limits adjustments, even if messy at the first round it's been perfect in the following rounds.
    • Random track conditions, i'm still thinking we should give it more tries, because it does mix the pack more and monitoring the weather change in the car feels amazing. Don't ask my graphic card, she has a different opinion :p
    • Standing start of the first race, it's the spirit of this car. Would have liked to do a manual standing start at the second race, placing yourself on the grid like for a f1 race... <3
  • Neutral feedback
    • Track choice, i found other tracks meeh, didn't race Bathurst nor Monza though. I wished we had seen more english bumpy style tracks like Brands hatch short or Oulton park, or a short original track (Lyden Hill ?) which suit the tiny clio more than the flat Hockeneim or Silverstone imho.
  • Negative
    • What follows is purely personal, and only reflects my point of view. The car choice was a major drawback for me. I was meeh from the announcement but my teammates @Taorminator and @Pierre CREUSEVAULT motivated me and we put quite a lot of practise for the pre season round. I was still not convinced after the actual race. Zolder was ok but i found the car so slow, especially after driving some GT3 on this track in ACC. I was very enthousiastic after Sonoma, because as i said this track went perfectly with the Clio and i had incredible battles especially with @CatchAGlimpse.
    • I just lost interest in training in the car from this race on, because i find it very boring to drive on your own and my teammates interest/available time was also dropping. I didn't see any reason to get bored driving it to get better when i had other more entertaining races in other games/cars/ Driving the Clio was feeling a bit like driving my daily car. It was no challenge to keep it on the track and i found it was more fighting with the car limits than fighting with your own limits, which i must say i didn't like.
    • The wet tyre thing at Catalunya. I was already quite unmotivated after having discovered the car 1h before the quali, this killed all the remaining fun and hence my retirement from the season. I was filling more like a danger on the track (this has been without doubt my worst evening in RSR concerning my own driving).
    • General lowering of driving standards (me included especially towards the end). It looks multi factorial to me :
      • new guys with good pace but average/low racecraft (not blaiming anyone here, very few guys are good at knowing how to attack/defend without creating unnecessary dangerous situations at their first MP experience. It sometime you increase with experience.
      • car that was allowing contact without direct damage penalty
      • closer field, slow tiny car, you could actually survive a 4 wide situation...or not.
    • Did not like the race format. I was quite hyped at the start, with one short "qualifying race" followed by a longer "endurance race" but in the end it turned out to be exactly same for two races, because formation lap was included in the race time and this was rulling out any pitstop stragy or fuel saving idea, which i find disappointing. This was also giving a double penalty in case of first race bad finish, because starting positions in the second race was more important than it would have been in a 45m/50m race with pit stop.
    • I missed the live commentary @fab. ICEMAN and @ovivoJR were doing for the last season. I understand this is something you guys have little power about, but why not being in touch with some streamers / youtubers / twitch guys ? RSR provides good entertaining races and i'm sure there would be interest to comment it. For me this adds a whole new dimension in the game, and i would probably have found the hype again to do RP stuff (reports, videos) like last season. Sorry @kobusnell to have failed this one :(
  • Which car would you like to drive for season 8?
    • Car with higher HP, clio doesn't make me dream a lot (even with 220 hp :p)
    • Allowing close racing BUT remaining fun the drive in hotlaps for training. This is also important in the race because once you're in a gap with no one directly close in front or behind you, well, the clio was boring to bring home.
    • Multiclass, multiclass, multiclass, would definitly love this. No GT3, as we now have a dedicated game for this, but why not GTE, GT4, i've heard of GT1, the P1 was fun to drive if i remember right, in any case i would remain with sequential / automatic gearbox, or maybe give a class with two cars, one with automatic one with manual, or two class ?
  • How did you like the Team Championship ?
    • With first team being so much above the pack, didn't find it really interesting, and this participated in my dropping interest in the season. Team of three were a very good idea though, and i would like to see it back. Maybe bring back a Pro/AM thing back, still with free teams but with mandatory pro/am mix?
  • How did you like the schedule?
    • Like last season, was great.
  • Do you have any other general feedback?
    • Thank you to people who put this together, i know there's a lot of dedication behind this.

Positive
Although i only did three races i think the car choice was perfect for close racing . No dirty air problems but the slipstream effect was very good which helped for overtaking. The car has been quite resilient to minor scrapes and knocks which helps when battling for positions.
Track choice was very good and worked with these cars perfectly although i would have liked to have seen the mighty Nordschleife on the calender .

Can't rearly comment on the Race schedule as i never did the whole season but it seems to work well.

Negative
Didn't like that you started race two in the position you finished race one so if you had a bad first race you were penalised for the start of race two . For me a reverse grid or even top ten would have made for better racing.
I think having a Pre season race or meeting would have been beneficial for some of our new drivers so they can see and learn how RSR race starts work.

Which car would you like to drive for season 8
For season eight i would like to see a low or non aero based car again ( Touring car . GT5 Ginetta .Group A or even group 5 ).

I would like to thank the RSR team for doing another great job in organising and running the seasons so that we can have the close and clean racing that we have.

Only just noticed this thread went up so apologies for the late post.

Outstanding
This community. The close racing throughout the season. My team mates @Shepard & @Battenberg.

Good
Racing with some of the regulars, in particular @Eugene Gajkin. We kept meeting on track in almost every race.
The standing start for race 1, enjoyed that more than I thought though my starts were generally horrible dropping 2/3 places each time.
The changing weather, I do enjoy the variable weather.
Car choice, I think most were apprehensive about it at the beginning but it closed the pack up. Unlike, previous seasons, 90% of the racers weren't lapped this season.
I like the stewards policy of bring up a case within 48hrs of the race ending. After that the drivers have to live with the standings...

Neutral
Think this has been covered by other people with regards to new drivers.

Bad
Wet weather tyres anyone?

Which car would you like to drive for season 8?
I keep saying it, mostly because I really really, REALLY like that car, BAC Mono.
I'd stick to road legal, turned track toys to race with.
I do like the sound of the multiclass thing but reckon it'd be a ball ache every event to sort the points out..

How did you like the schedule (2 races, 1 break, ...)
I'm easy with this. Preferred the Monday night event but this is purely personal preference.

Do you have any other general feedback?
When do we start again?! :D:D:D
Massive shout out to all the staff at RSR for continuing to make this community the place to be.

Better late than never ! Note : I wasn't there for the last 2 races so my feedback can be a bit wrong

  • Positive, negative, neutral feedback, whatever comes to your mind!
The positive has to be the comptetitiveness of this season : Some mid-fields drivers of the Cup 6 were as fast as the top drivers which was a great thing to see !
The circuits were quite good and, according to the people racing at bathurst and monza, very unexpected. I admit i was quite surprised we didn't race at Brands Hatch but overall it wasn't much of a problem.
The Negatives would be two things for me :
- First, the car : If i like the TCRs in general, the Clio has some problems i still don't like. For example, the view from the interior wasn't very clear and at several times i was off the track limits thinking i was in. I didn't felt the lack of power as we raced on national circuits (those who raced at bathurst might have felt the lack of power however).
- Second, the dynamic weather : What happened at Barcelona was very frustrating as the ones who went for wets were slower than the ones on slicks... during a Storm ! That race was a major drawback for me and i hope we won't have to suffer from that problem again.
  • Which car would you like to drive for season 8?
I would like to drive the BMW 320 TC or another RWD "Robust" car : A very good thing from the Clio was its stiffness. Thanks to that, the car was very forgiving on some crashes allowing the impacted driver to keep racing.
  • How did you like the Team Championship?
I really liked the 3 Drivers Team idea !
  • How did you like the schedule?
Still good as always !
  • Do you have any other general feedback?
Just a massive congrats to the RSR Team for putting that much efforts for us ! :D
