Sorry, can you go instead?

If you insist...

A man was traveling from Switzerland to France with an old train. He was on his way home.
Due to the trains movements and the monotonous noises, he fell asleep. When he woke up, he jumped out of his compartment window. If he had sat in the smoker's compartment, he would probably still be alive.

What the ... happened here?

You know the drill - ask and I will answer.

Ps: No. None of the countries mentioned are crucial.

As a rough guess, was the train going over a very high bridge when he jumped out? If so, if he'd been in the smoking compartment at the back of the train he would have landed on the ground instead of falling to his death? That or he was hit by a passing train, which again, he would have missed if he'd been in a different carriage?

Interesting thought, but no. To both.

Had the train just pulled up alongside a zoo, and he jumped out into the lion's den? If he'd been in the smoker's carriage, he would have landed in the cute kitten enclosure?

he was a french agent on a job in switzerland to gain access to nuclear missile launch codes (basically every agents mission right) and successfully gained access to those. feeling safe after completing his mission successfully he took a train home to paris to deliver the codes. Little did he know he was indeed being followed by a swiss agent. Once he woke up they sat face to face as the swiss agent got hold of him while he was asleep. Confronted witj the swiss agent whilst wakeing up the french agent decided to kill himself so his identity remained a secret and took a leap for the open window. He wouldnt have fallen asleep in the smokers lounge as he cant stand to smell smoke and the cougjing would have kept him.awake and rdy to counter-attack the swiss agent. Also it is the 1950s (old train) and almost everyone smoked during tjat time. The smokers carriage would have been filled with smokers making it very difficult for the swiss agent to gain access and attack the french agent.

there are really to many options i guess

was he missing his eyesight, because it was dark in the tunnel so he killed himself because he thought he turned blind, which wouldn't have happened with all the burning cigarettes in the smokers compartement?

You got it. He was blind before and he just came from an operation where his eyesight was restored. So when driving through that tunnel he thought the operation had failed and he would be blind again.
