So to follow on from my previous post, I’m still buzzing from that race. I’ve been ducking into ACC on and off the last few months and I do enjoy it when the drivers around me are clean and respectful. So when RSR put this race up I jumped at it as you guys are always great competitors.

I used this race to try to tune a setup so and spend some time in the SIM prepping and leaning the setup. The aggressive setups are really not far off what I like so after doing quite a few changes I really wasn’t far from the aggressive set.

I was pleased with my pace and once I got a good time in Quali I turned to practicing a pit stop as I’ve not done a manual one before. I’ve been doing them with auto engine off and on and I thought it was a bit slow so this race was my motivation to learn how. I was super scared I was going to screw up the pit stop.

I got a good start and got P1 after a few turns. It was obvious I couldn’t pull away, and after dipping a couple of wheels into the gravel coming onto the start finish, I relinquished the lead back to @Puffpirat . I stuck with him for a while but he seemed to have just a small amount of pace on me. I stuck at it really hoping I could make up some time in traffic, but this is Puffy we are talking about and that was probably not going to happen.

Towards the end of the first stint the Audi seemed that it was a little easier on its tires, and I made a couple of seconds back before the pit stop. After we pitted, which I didn’t screw up thank god, I was right on Puffy’s arse. He didn’t seem to have the pace he did before the stop, later saying he accidentally changed his engine map. Lucky for me. We battled and I got passed and very satisfyingly pulled away.

I’ve raced with @Puffpirat many times, and he has come out on top in pretty much 99% of them. Maybe I’ve now just got that down to 98%. :)

looking forward to the next time.

@t0daY must try harder next time to make it a 3 way battle.

it was really great to race with a grid of 40. battles happening all across the ranks, as far as I could see. and very clean and respectful racing for the most part, which really sets RSR apart from many counterparts.

after @Eugene Gajkin (if I'm not mistaken) hunting me down the start-finish line, we entered turn 1 together side by side, and although I left space on the outside, we touched. it looked like a racing incident from my side, but he spinned and lost quite some time. so sorry about that.

at about the half-way mark I had to leave for iftar :) so could only race for the first half. but it was great all the same.

definitely looking forward to an ACC league with this crowd!

That was an awesome experience! Barcelona is one of my least favorite tracks, but the full grid and the close and fair racing made up for that. More please!
My apologies @T.rev.1 for that messed up overtake into T1, if you hadn't payed attention, I could have killed us both there. Sorry!

@Battenberg As a league is on the table, do you think it is possible to implement something like the in-game classes (AM, PRO-AM,....). It would add some motivation boost for the not-so-fast guys (like me ).

Nice to see many people turning up for this test event! Would have also joined, but sundays and generally weekend evenings are usually a 'No' for me

@Battenberg : If we have enough sign-ups we could also think about our own 'real' GT World Challenge with 60 or 90min team races with one mandatory pitstop with mandatory tire and driver change (and maybe refueling at the 90min races). That would be an absolute dream ;) But to make it fun, we would need like 60 sign-ups so that you have at least 25-30 cars on track.
For a single driver championship I think it would be cool, to have 60 and 120min races mixed together, where you can score points in a 60min Sprint Championship, in the 120min Endurance Championship and in the Overall Championship. Maybe use the IGTC tracks for the endurance rounds or so

@Shepard : Yeah, I think you can easily setup PRO, PRO-AM and AM classes through the entry list of the server. Battenberg is racing in PRO-AM in the RLM Endurance league and you even get the right colored badge in the ingame timetables and standings.

..humble bragging.. :D
Was a pleasure to battle with you again! I hope we see you in the league too :) Right fuel map or not, it would've been very hard in the second stint with you on lower fuel than the start of the race. Great pace man and clean racing! Shame we lost Manu and Morvic so early into the race.

Edit:
  • 7 Qual power, high consumption, aggressive throttle map
  • 8 Qual power, high consumption, linear throttle map
  • 9 Low power, low consumption, progressive throttle map

Ah man I could've went down but it obviously went up to 9 -_-

What a fantastic race and battle with @Battenberg @hinesy32 and @cheekymunkey78 (thanx for putting the real names and aliases in first post @Battenberg !). I was struggling a lot with front left tire (too hot) and braking (maybe I now really need to buy myself some hydraulic brake pedal ).

Oh yeah, and I officially hate that last chicane. Could never get a decent line through and out of it and was only more frustrating seeing others get it right everytime and just drive away from me :)

@ramiboo : about calling me a gentleman: if only I had your speed I would've tried to stay in front of you LOL! Congrats with the win mate!

This is my stream. The view is a little bit off, as I mirror my image in ACC at 1440p, but the stream is on 1080p and I had to resize this. I will change my image in ACC to fullhd next time. I hope you enjoy it ;-)

So, it looks like a championship is on the cards  Any feedback on the event format? Anything we should tweak?
Now with more time for a proper reply:
I think the race length used with mandatory pit stop is spot on. Sprint races people are more aggressive as every move counts and jockeying for position becomes of a bigger importance than consistency.
We didn't get rain but a % chance to rain adds the extra ingredient for super fun strategic races.

Other than that, just a good mix of tracks to ensure no cars have a real advantage in the long run above others and ensure people can't swap cars between races as this would allow cheesing the system :).

Right fuel map or not, it would've been very hard in the second stint with you on lower fuel than the start of the race.
Just a note on that: the game refuels at the same time it swaps tyres, i am not 100% sure as i never tried to refuel a full tank but i think regardless of the amount of fuel it will never go over the 30sec to change the tyres. The point is: there is no point in going with full tank from the start as the pit stop, without repairs but with tyre change, will always take 30seconds.

@t0daY this is the option i was mentioning yesterday, HUD, last option:

You might have this set to the Maximum value, implying you'll only get warnings when shit hits the fan, hence why you didn't get the 3 warnings prior to getting the DT on the 4th strike.
ACC is quite lessez-faire in my opinion with regards to track limits, much more than iRacing i.e., so you must have been doing some real corner cutting :).

Nah, you were fine and defended well. The Porsche is a beast on this track. Was more the car than me :)

Ah okay. Well not really, at least I am not aware of heavy cutting for me. After serving the DT I was fine and took the same lines like I did before. Still an odd one for me but it is what it is :)

Unfortunately i started from the pits since i failed to select drive. one quick question. Does starting from the pits mean i was 1 or 2 laps down from the start?

I was in the same situation as you, wasn't too pleased to be battling P25 and my position still being P35 ish.

I mentioned it after the race, I think its something that's going to be looked at. Just doesn't make it fair in a 90 minute race, in a 24h yes as you could earn that lap back.

@drukqs It was me that started with a full tank. Too used to iRacing and not normally changing tyres. I'll know next time to work out how much fuel I can get in in 30 seconds so I can start on a lower amount. It worked out for me anyway this time. :)

I've never refuelled a full tank but i think it never takes more than the 30sec for tyre swap.
Last week i did a race where i refuelled 100L and again it only took the standard 30sec for tyre change.

Yep iRacing is a bit different in a lot of things :).

I started with 100 liters and refuelled halfway.

Really enjoyed my first ever race on ACC. In practice I had the pace to be right with the front 2 but just couldn't do it in the server as my fps really suffered and cost me the confidence to really push. So I had to play it safe.

I had a good fight with @OJRacing for a good portion of the first stint trying to get past, In the end I think he let me go? Then after a while I was surprised when I looked at the hud to see I was in 3rd place and only around 6 seconds behind p2. I decided I would be very happy with a podium in a field of around 40 after having the game not much more than a day.

Once I pitted I was horrified to see the stop would take well over a minute! I didn't think I had any damage so never checked the pit stop settings while driving. I was pretty disappointed and decided I would just try and get as far back up the field as I could knowing any chance of a decent result was long gone after going from 3rd when I entered the pits to somewhere around 20th when I exited.

I passed a few cars on my way back up until I got to @Battenberg. As he said he really made me work for it, I was trying absolutely everything, round the outside, cutbacks...everything. But he was placing his car so well I could never get enough of a run at him to make anything stick. Eventually I think a cutback worked out of the hairpin but I misjudged the width of the car in the next turn and there was a slight bit of contact but gave him the place back and I think I got a run out of the chicane the next lap and managed to get past.

Really enjoyed that fight and the racing in this game. Hopefully I can figure something out for a few extra fps on large grids and am looking forward to doing more.

PS. Does anyone know how to get the hud to show in vr recordings?

Which HMD are you using? On Oculus you can go to C:/Oculus/diagnostics and open the OculusMirror. The Oculus Mirror shows exactly what you see in the HMD including the HUD :) Don't know how much resources it uses but shouldn't be too much.

I will post my current ACC setting for Ryzen 3700x / 1080Ti combo later. Pretty happy with those, can maintain 90fps most of the time and it looks pretty good in my Rift CV1.

By default pitstops also fix your suspension and bodywork...you'll need to untick those options during the race (usually best to do it on the parade lap).
You might have had some suspension damage from heavy bumping on kerbs, that's my guess. Other than that, pitstop timer should only take 30sec.

both starting from lap 11 onwards.
There is an option in game to change the ammount of recording time of your replay, by the looks of of it, those replays were set to 1hour max. Just change it to something bigger and you'll have the full race the next time :).

I did not save my replay, so no help from me :/.
