So to follow on from my previous post, I’m still buzzing from that race. I’ve been ducking into ACC on and off the last few months and I do enjoy it when the drivers around me are clean and respectful. So when RSR put this race up I jumped at it as you guys are always great competitors.
I used this race to try to tune a setup so and spend some time in the SIM prepping and leaning the setup. The aggressive setups are really not far off what I like so after doing quite a few changes I really wasn’t far from the aggressive set.
I was pleased with my pace and once I got a good time in Quali I turned to practicing a pit stop as I’ve not done a manual one before. I’ve been doing them with auto engine off and on and I thought it was a bit slow so this race was my motivation to learn how. I was super scared I was going to screw up the pit stop.
I got a good start and got P1 after a few turns. It was obvious I couldn’t pull away, and after dipping a couple of wheels into the gravel coming onto the start finish, I relinquished the lead back to @Puffpirat . I stuck with him for a while but he seemed to have just a small amount of pace on me. I stuck at it really hoping I could make up some time in traffic, but this is Puffy we are talking about and that was probably not going to happen.
Towards the end of the first stint the Audi seemed that it was a little easier on its tires, and I made a couple of seconds back before the pit stop. After we pitted, which I didn’t screw up thank god, I was right on Puffy’s arse. He didn’t seem to have the pace he did before the stop, later saying he accidentally changed his engine map. Lucky for me. We battled and I got passed and very satisfyingly pulled away.
I’ve raced with @Puffpirat many times, and he has come out on top in pretty much 99% of them. Maybe I’ve now just got that down to 98%.
looking forward to the next time.
@t0daY must try harder next time to make it a 3 way battle.
