Here is my logic for dealing with such situations.

If the drivers iRating is less than 2000 and their saftey rating is less than A2.5, then assume the following ...

They are driving a rocket with faulty ailerons and a failed gyroscope and adapt accordingly

I've seen Gxbbs race a few races now in that "hellhole" which is under 2k iR (although the higher iRating doesn't mean they won't do the same).
The best thing to do is just be even safer then they are, if you overtake you want to do it with a lot of space, don't battle for position just stick behind them and in 50%+ of the cases they crash.
Once you are outside the 2k iRating you'll be able to engage in some battles.

I'm really close, I keep getting to mid 1900's and then have races like last night and drop into the 1800's again.

Don't battle! Just finish the race. A good tip is don't pick a personal number and let iRacing do it for you. In the race you will be assigned your car number by iRating. So let's say I join a race and my car number is 10. I also qualify in the top 10 as well. You need to place 10th place or better to gain iRating. It's a good way to gauge where you need to place in the race. It's even better in high SOF races where you might be towards the bottom of the field. You then place top 10 and gain a good chunk of iRating.

Just keep those things in mind. I was also stuck in that hell hole but had to play the game and not fight in battles. Also if you get to 18-1900 iRating go to another series and get the bump up to 2000. Any of the lower series will be better to gain those extra iRating than racing in GT3 in either IMSA or BSS.

No, there is only room for one black sheep of the family

Tooks the AMG out on nords yesterday, back end was all over the place and loosing grip left right and centre, but I was still faster than I was in the Audi :O

The Audi felt much more controlled and balanced, but that could be the experience from driving it in the 24 Hour
