Well, I just stole Stu's setup and dear lord does it handle like treacle on those low tyre pressures . Or it might be the tyres I put on it ;)

EDIT : That lap was the first clean lap I ran. I usually hit the sausage kerb on the exit of the swimming pool section, throwing the car into the wall on the right. I was faster than Stu from the get go, with some laps showing clear daylight on the run up the hill. Trust me, it wasn't driving talent, it was purely the tyres :). There's almost certainly another 1s to come off my time with a bit more practice.

Wow! I just tried those tyres and it took me about half an hour to put a (terrible) lap together. They're just so unpredictable. There's a ton of grip, No doubt about that...maybe its low steering ratio they don't like? I was getting either a ton of grip or none and it seemed random to me which I would get. Sometimes suddenly mid-corner they'd grip up and I'd be in the inside wall before I could react. I think there's another 1 to 3 seconds in them easy if you could predict what they'll do...

I think that is also because of the temps. They are "blue" below 83°C and entering a fast corner at 93-94°C on the front means they will give up and understeer out mid corner. The temps window is tiny. Any good luck to anyone that tires to warm them up on Quali without damaging the car before the flying lap starts.

How about we just make a gentleman’s agreement and leave the bugged gamble sport tire in the pit and just stick to Slicks.

Gets my vote Puff.

Strictly speaking, they're not 'default setup' so in actual fact we shouldn't be using them anyway.

EDIT : Got this race and the Ginetta mini-league mixed up

The race itself is open setup though right? Bit confused by your default setup remark ;)

^^^ Yeah, erm, whoops

Gave the TT another spin using miagi's setup this time (but with the Sport tyre). Made a mess of the first sector, to the tune of nearly 0.4s, so there's a comfortable 1m30.5 on the cards in TT. Of course, this all means nothing, it's only what we can each do on the night that matters.

i know that this is the kind of track VR users have massive advantage and thats fair enough, but even so...i can't see how you can get some much grip on those corners or turning power or breaking power...it's just..

ok fair enough i can take 3 seconds with the sports tyre allright but they are a bit dangerous, that grip is a bit dodgy

I'm up for banning this tyre straight for the sake of safety :D.

Guys, I'm going to pull out of this one given my current form on the track. Don't fancy going to the pits every lap or every other lap or wrecking somebody else's race. Good luck to all and have fun

I have to pull out yet again, this time it's work related as I'll be in Germany for the whole week starting monday. (Should have been there this week, but it was postponed.)

my fastest lap so far is a low 1:36 in race conditions, Monaco is a track i know well and enjoy but the Formula C is a tricky car to drive, 1 thing I'm finding is the tires is not providing the grip that i would expect, not sure if thats due to temps or pressures(not sure what pressures/temps make those slicks work)
If anyone can point me in the right direction to stop the car from under-steering in slow speed corners and over-steering in high speed corners such as Tabac, I would be very grateful :)

Oversteer high speed corners, reduce front DF by a few clicks, mine is around 15 I think. Still trying to fix the slow corner understeer but I can imagine that it will be a combination of lower value engine braking, lower preload, softer front swaybar and stiffer rear swaybar.

Thanks Nighttiger! :)
Also the difference in grip comes from the tyres overheating, above 90 degrees makes you lose grip, you are probably hovering around that value so sometimes you have the grip and sometimes you don't. Fixing the excess oversteer and understeer will stress the tyres less and fix some of the heating issues. However if it doesn't it might be advisable to push less hard to guarantee the grip instead of the spiky grip due to... yea walls.

@Nighttiger Value of cold pressures?
You should aim for 1.6 front and 1.45 rear hot pressures after 10 laps maybe a tad lower due the lack of straights, adjust cold pressures accordingly. Just plain cold pressures numbers do not always tranform to the same hot pressures between drivers because of their driving style.
