Don't think I will be able to do a 60 minute race today. Bruised my leg on the weekend and even had a hard time driving to the doc and back. Was looking forward to this.

I am very happy with this race. Really awesome event, and actually i think it went much better than i expected.

Quali was good for my usual performance, took 2seconds on my best lap on the track (with slicks) and qualified P8.

No trouble on Turn 1, awesome job everyone!

I did not hit the walls a single time during the whole race and i kept my consistency which did let me finish in the end at P5.
I got damage from 3 racing incidents:

1) UnstopaPaul spinned in front of me at the chicane, tried to avoid but clipped him, got like 5 aero dmg on the front and Mearcat and Stokemon started putting pressure on me.
2) Mearcat bumped into me on the break for the chicane. Interestly it was a hard bump but i got just minor additional dmg.
3) Mearcat bumbed me slowly on the hairpin after casino square. This time i lost my rear wing and had to do my pit stop earlier than i wanted.

For some reason my tyres did not change altough i confirmed i had that setup (i will self-report this). I would rather change the tyres as my car was on ice on the 2nd part of the race and i was quite slow so i just coasted until the end as i had a massive gap ahead and behind.
Did let 3 cars unlap themselfs as they were battling, seemed like the right call there.

So yeah, quite happy, and looking forward for some more openwheelers...just Frenault or FRookie. This car just sucks.

I think I'm in the minority but I really like that car! It's like a formula rookie on steroids. Thanks to @miagi's TT setup I had a good baseline to tweak from, and came up with something I could happily powerslide around casino square lap after lap  Even though it was a race of survival, 4 of us were initially in the fight for P3 with similar pace, so I feel it was still a well-earned result.

Here's my POV from tonight:

16:58 - Qualifying Lap (P5).
23:15 - Race Start & 4 way battle for P3.
27:37 - Sneaky move by @Nighttiger, well played.
30:40 - The great wall of @Dama_The_Crow. Struggling to find a way past a limping Dama.
32:55 - Not sure what I was thinking here, lucky to get away with a little damage. Followed by quick laps to catch back up to P3 & 4.
40:30 - Rejoined the battle for P3. Clash between @CatchAGlimpse and @Nighttiger hands me P3. With the leaders uncatchable and no threat from behind, I cruise to the end.
54:00 - Mandatory pit stop, slick tyres and splash of fuel.
1:23:50 - Finish.

That was by far the most embarrassing end of a race I've ever had...

It started so good with an incredible tight battle against @Puffpirat. Then during my pit the pit crew decided to repair the 6 engine damage I had, which sent me 10s behind Puff again. The lapping of other cars went quite well, until this happened...

@Mearcat said he's gonna go wide on top of the hill so I can pass on the inside. I understood and prepared to take a narrower line through that combination, but I braked a split second too late and realized I have too much speed, so I guess I braked even harder which made me lock up my tires and go straight into his rear. The impact didn't seem too hard, but somehow it completely flipped his car over. I don't understand the physics in that situation, but I guess that wouldn't have happened IRL. Nevertheless, I'm fully to blame here. Mearcat, I'm really really sorry for that collision, I did not want to end your race there. I'm feeling terrible.

The race went on and Puffy had an incident with a lapped car as well. He lost his front wing there so I was able to catch him quite fast. We went into Rascasse when I was right on his rear.

Puffy braked and I touched his rear the slightest bit - and his rear wing fell off?! I don't know if Puffy braked earlier there or not, but that "bump" seems like a network issue to me. I'm so sorry Puff, that contact destroyed your race as well and I think I'm also to blame here. You were probably right when you said I would have passed you anyway, but it was absolutely not in my intention to rip your car apart. :(

It's such a shame because the race was thrilling, exciting and entertaining, but these contacts destroyed everything. I will definitely be more careful with these things in future...

Well, I'm glad I persisted, even though I nearly pulled out of the race this afternoon. I knew some kind of crash was nearly inevitable for me - this car is just too skittish. Sadly I think I was first to fall, the car just got slightly out of sorts at the chicane, and while ensuring I was avoiding cars I lost sight of the corner barrier. Even a clip is enough to spin you around. Sorry for the chaos.

Still - having started the race, I am held to my own promise to not DNF. Soldiering on I was catching up nicely to stormin when my inexperience got the better of me once more. I was so happy with myself that I was putting pressure on and cleverly waiting for him to make a large enough mistake, that I stopped focusing on my own driving. At least this time it was a proper stop for tyres (and more suspension repairs).

After that I actually got into a bit of a groove and no further incidents for the last 36mins - in fact I finished with 0 aero damage. Such a shame that the first 25 were so poor. 7th place was exactly as qualifying predicted, so I guess I can be happy with that at least, but I've still a lot of work to do in being comfortable with traffic.

Here's my PoV for anyone interested.

Icemans front-wing eats cars for breakfast, must have a forcefield or is made out of Vibranium, while all the other cars are made out of tinfoil and papier-mache. Not fair Iceman, do something more useful with this technology than building front-wings :(

I saw the accident with Mearcat live and it's a good example of what I said about Multiclass-Lapping some days about "It doesn't go well if the slower car wants to dictated the lapping." And this is an example. The lapped car makes the decision for the fast car and it goes wrong. Mearcat had some gap behind and in front, why not let him pass on the way up the hill where it's relativity save, why pass in the corner where it's much more dangerous? Esp in this corner where the fast guys drift thru. Mearcat made the call and put himself in danger for no reason.

Lets say im happy wings come for free in pc2 and after watching commentary (which was top job) ice cream wouldnt have hurt while waiting for repairs ;)

About race i had super good balance on car for my liking and thought i would have good consistency. Had decent start and saw james going wide and touching wall on tabac so i decided to go for it and we were two wide coming into first part of pool section and i managed to come into second part ahead but waiting for rear to settle before braking i slightly missed my point and had huge slide trying to make the corner on apex had slight touch on rear which stopped my car rotating and went straight into wall.:banghead:
After that having repairs done i was thinking having clear track and mandatory pits done race could be recovered but having cold tyres going in to turn 2 rookie mistake and i find car damaged and facing wrong way and my concentration absolutely gone. :D

But even after having my worst race in pc2 performance wise with 6 pit stops, monaco is absolutely fantastic track and i would love to race there again any time!:D

Er no I totally disagree, in regard to single class lapping.

That was a far safer spot to allow a lapping car to go through as at that point, on that track the tarmac is actually one of the widest (2.5 cars wide).

I let Puff past at the same point in the same way when he asked.

Also the car movements are far more predictable than the weaving going up the hill where the cars more or less straight line the corners "closing the doors" rapidly.

As for the lapping car dictating the pass point - no again.
I see it as the slower cars responsibility to give the space at a suitable point (blue flag: faster car behind, let it pass).
If a faster car suddenly demands from a slower one to pass at a point the slower car is not ready for or in a technically difficult section of the track, thats when incidents WILL happen because the slower driver is neither in position, nor ready.

As per good sportmanship Iceman asked early and I communicated giving a specific spot to pass with a good amount of time in advance. He just made an error with his braking point and his car went wide (I watched the replays in detail). My rear wheel must of missed his wing by milimeters.

2) Mearcat bumped into me on the break for the chicane. Interestly it was a hard bump but i got just minor additional dmg.
3) Mearcat bumbed me slowly on the hairpin after casino square. This time i lost my rear wing and had to do my pit stop earlier than i wanted.

Both of these, Druqs I apologise for "bumbing":hilarious: both times as was trying a little too hard to catch you but also fend off ??Stokemon??
Not really had such a close fight since my track days. Forgot how intense the pressure can get, it just takes a milisecond late judgement on the brakes.

I am sorry if I maybe cause damage to you but at the end of the race I noticed that I talked in vain all the race because my mic was off
I told you that I am going to pit because I had much damage, but obviously you couldn't hear that :(

Well that went great ;)

Quali was good, ideally could've broken into the 32s but didn't get it together, but thankfully it was enough. My start was a bit meh, then an intense 25min with @fab. ICEMAN started :) Tough battling, your pace was great in the first stint. I think generally we were on a comparable level, but what didn't make it easier was that you had the pace where overtaking was possible, in the section leading to the tunnel.

Towards the end of the first stint I had to look deeply into my bag of tricks to keep you behind. This one time in the tunnel with zero traction exiting the right hander, I think it was a bit cheeky but ultimately still ok. I placed my car just enough to the right to break your momentum, I did understand your frustration though ;)

Anyway this gave me aero damage and I missed the chicane, so let iceman through. I tried to stay out for one lap but the rear was super loose so I pitted a lap later. From there on I pushed the pace up to an uncomfortable level, basically banging in half an hour of quali laps. This payed off as I could keep the gap that I got gifted during the pit stop.

With 10mins to go, coming up to @Onufmi he lost it at the casino. I tried everything to avoid contact but the car got spat out from the barriers right infront of me. In hindsight, sorry for having a go at you on TS. But with zero cars around you, you could've let me go earlier. You shouldn't take out anyone, but the last thing you want is to take out the leader. That was properly properly gutting.

With massive aero damage I tried to limp it home, but my pace dropped by multiple seconds, 30kph down at the tunnel, my lead was eaten up with 3 laps to go. I could've made it home in P2 as my engine temps were still in control, but after the contact with iceman my car was toast. Rear wing gone, missed the pit entrance as I couldn't react quickly enough in Rascasse. My engine temps shot through the roof and the lap was rather interesting with no rear wing, but I made it to pits shortly before blowing th engine.

I mean what can I say, shit happens @fab. ICEMAN, don't worry. I tried to bring it home, they say you don't simply pit or retire from the lead at monaco ;) It's a game, it was a gamble, f*** it. I took a beer and calmed myself down.

It was very fun race although car was a handful for driving. I didn't have much time to practice and set up a car, but I wanted to participate mostly because F1 race day before :)

Qually was a surprise to me. I did 3rd best time and just 0,6 sec behind Puff. It was positive shock to me, and all that because I watched F1 race day before :D

Fist lap I got suspension damage, and it didn't get any easier because @CatchAGlimpse was allover me and I couldn't "breathe".

I don't get why this car on slicks is so "sliding". I had feeling that it has no grip at all. Probably setup was not so good.

After that @Nighttiger and @Battenberg were at my tail, and I hit a wall a bit before tunnel that made my car just more slower and harder to control, so I went to pits.

I totally lost it when I needed to set repair car damage over ICM. In Monte Carlo track it was not easy at all. So in that all confusion in ICM I changed even Front and rear roll bar accidentally :panda: so my var was basicly undriveable in corners, and after that it was real question what values were for that(???). :D
My pitstop lasted for about a year.
I came out 11th.

Again, it was fine, I drove my own race, and I felt car very well (my rear and front roll bar earlier set up (accidentaly over ICM) was a better that in the beginning of the race xD) but at 31:20 stupid mistake and lost the front wing. Again in pitbox. Again messing with ICM on the fly and pitstop lasted for 2 years not one like first one year because I set up "repair all". :cyclops:
I came out 11th. (deja vu)

@UnstopaPaul was in front and I was catching him, after he made mistake at the Nouvelle chicane, he let me pass him.

at 39:20 @Stokemon exited the pits and it was close side to side battle until Massenet.

After that it was just a alone diving at 7th place and at very end, 1:28 minutes until the end, I again lost front wing at first corner wall :penguin:

I could't do nothing but to let UnstopaPaul pass me.

8th at the end.

Next Time Monte Carlo and Formula B :)

I thought it was worth calling in case you mis-trusted what I was going to do on returning to track. You were clearly faster at the time and even if I'd got back on track ahead (possible) and not caused one of us to crash (very possible) then you were still going to get me in a lap or so I think.

I agree with you Mearcat.

The driver laping is usually more skilled (and ofc faster) so it should be the car in front to dictate a place where he/she feels confortable to be overtaken. This is anyway what happens in real life, we just have the addded bonus of being able to comunicate with each.

Altough i myself did this when i was in front of races and overtaking backmarkers (i guess its a natural reflex), i think the 'can i pass driver?' messages are not productive and i would say that the less the drivers need to communicate when a backmarker is being overtaken the better: maximum, the backmarkers should state their intentions. I often find those 'can i pass?' messages a bit of a sign of impatience from the leader and get me a bit frustrated as an attempt to force me give position in a place i dont feel safe.
Yesterday Iceman gave me a 'Can i pass?' message just before the hairpin: sorry mate, i can see you perfectly well and you cannot pass me on the hairpin, be patient! I told you to wait for the chicane break after the tunnel, but since you were so impatient i ended messing up a bit my entrance to the tunnel straight and you bumped into me (very minor +1 aero dmg).

All good. We were all 3 battling so i guess this can happen. The interesting is that the first bump was much harder and i did not get a lot of dmg. The second one was a slower one and i lost my rear wing.

Because of this, i was so paranoid of being rear bumped that i let 3 drivers unlap themselfs behind me altough my pace was more a less even with at least 2 of them, it was the right call in the end as managed to do P5 with probably P8/P9/P10 race pace.
