So, unless you have a genuine reason to pit in the first lap, the tyre temperature gain (I could get the front right as high as 75, rear right 86) isn't enough to affect grip/ stability to the point where you'd gain the time lost pitting.
It'll be beneficial when you do pit normally as you'll want to drop the pressures anyway for a rapidly cooling track, (still need to test with more than 1 car on track)
reckon most people will need to add fuel when they pit as well...

Serious question: Is this confirmed? I thought the tire temps are somewhat less connected to the tire pressures in comparison to PC1. I am runnning an asymmetric setup to get the same hot-pressure, not the same temperature, which is not possible anyways on this track.

Lowering the hot pressures below 25/26 will cost you a lot more in grip & speed than tyre temps that are not quite in the optimal range will.

It may pay off to have a first lap incident... You can lower the tyre pressures further in the pit strategy so higher tyre Temps.
Sneaky I know

Not true for the Ferrari at least. Min pressure is 1.29 on pit stop. By default min is 1.30 so the difference is negligable. This trick might work on other cars. And this was something i was planning to do if i could.

The default minimum is 1.30
But for the ford you can lower it below 1.20 in the pit strategy.

Update

Adjusted race time to 5 + 60 minutes. Makes in total 65 minutes.

5 minutes for the formation lap
60 minutes race time

What is the ruling regarding what can be done at the pitstop?

the only rule is that you must change all 4 tyres. It's not default setups anyway so if you want to change anything else you can.

Thanks @Yammie916 I couldn't remember whether you had to change all 4 or any at all, whether you could keep the same tyres and just stop and go. I looked in the rules, but it just says Mandatory Pitstop. :D

Mandatory pitstops are to change all 4 tires, if your planning on stopping multiple times you are only required to change tires once

I didn't have time to practice that much and I wonder how much laps soft tires can hold on approximately?

The softs would have lasted the whole race, but if you have to change them it doesn't matter anyway.

I did the tt with setups from some of the aliens among us and made some adjustments to have it more suited to my driving style... still not the quickest... potential is 1.47 ish...

I know I need to change my settings for the race setup... so I won't overheat my engine...like I did in 2 races in season 3...

1. Radiator .... I want to put it on 65, but no clue whether or not this is on the safe side? Can I go lower, like 50-55?
2. Front brake duct... no clue but higher than the rear one... so I'll copy the default setting
3. Rear brake duct
4. Amount of fuel of course :banghead:
5. Pit strategy (I think I'll go for tyre change only if the fuel tank is big enough for the entire race.

Anything else you usually need to change compared to the tt/quali setup?

This is what I set up:
1. I set it on 65, and temp is slightly below 100
2. Front 25%
3. Rear 20% (56/44 break balance)
4.....
5. I think that 84l is not enough for all race - but it is close if you can save fuel - (mine avg fuel consumption is like 2.63l/lap - race is like 34 laps (60min+1lap - laptime 1:46/7/9)

So I'll add 5-10 more liters at pitstop

I've done a couple of race stints with a parade lap and on both occasions had a couple of litres to spare, add into that traffic and you shouldn't need any fuel. You could add 5L at the stop to be certain.

Thanks for the information... I'll add an extra 10L during pit stop to be sure I'll make it to the finish line.....:D:D:D

my plan is to not brake for turn one, punt everybody off and then I can make my escape while you are all in the pits doing repairs....

that's how they do it a Monza isn't it?? :bag:

now i've said this, if somehow I don't qualify last I'll probably get taken out in some kind of revenge plot for even suggesting this...:blackeye:

I've worked out how to do spoilers!:finger:
